Mega Pixel

Mega pixel is a measure of the number of information receptors on a digital sensor. The numbers though are somewhat misleading; a point and shoot, a reduced sensor DSLR, and a full frame DSLR, may all share the same pixel count, but the photo quality won't be the same. The point and shoot with its much smaller sensor and resulting tightly packed pixels will be prone to noise, especially in under exposed areas and will lack the image quality of a larger sensor.
